Tax Attorney Leila Vaughan Joins Chamberlain Hrdlicka

National law firm Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams & Aughtry announced today the addition of tax attorney Leila Vaughan to its Philadelphia office.

“We are thrilled to welcome Leila to Chamberlain Hrdlicka,” said Phil Karter, shareholder in the Philadelphia office. “Adding a tax specialist to our team with a strong background in mergers and acquisitions further extends our capacity to assist clients in planning and facilitating complex business transactions.”

Vaughan’s practice focuses on all aspects of tax planning, with particular emphasis on taxable and tax-free corporate and partnership transactions. She also advises nonprofit and tax-exempt clients in seeking and maintaining federal and state tax exemptions.

The law firm listed on their website that Vaughan’s practice includes all aspects of tax planning, tax controversy and litigation, international tax, corporate tax, and tax-exempt organizations. Leila represents businesses in taxable as well as tax-free or tax-deferred transactions. Her experience includes tax-free reorganizations, tax-free and taxable liquidations, tax-free corporate formations and contributions, tax-free spin-offs, and stock and asset purchases.

Vaughan also represents nonprofits and her experience includes counseling nonprofits on permissible activities for organizations described in Sections 501(c)(3), 501 (c)(4)m 501(c)(6) abd 527.

Vaughan previously was a manager in the national office of Ernst & Young, LLP. She has extensive experience counseling businesses regarding the tax consequences of transactions and negotiating tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, credit agreements and licensing agreements.

After graduating from Duke University with a degree in political science in 2003, Vaughan went on to earn her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2006. She most recently received her LL.M. in taxation from New York University in 2010.
