Summary: A former lawyer, Sana Hamelin, has left her career to open a cat cafe in Denver, Colorado. It would be the first of its kind in the state.
Sana Hamelin is a former corporate litigator. She has since become an entrepreneur, looking to open the first cat cafe in Denver, according to The Denver Westword.
If the Denver Cat Company gets off the ground, it would offer cats, coffee, books and art. Hamelin is still looking to raise money to open the cafe. She set-up a crowdfunding campaign with a goal of $50,000, which is nowhere near that number.
Hamelin still thinks that the city will be the best spot for a cat cafe to open for quirky cat lovers. She is looking for a place on South Broadway and will operate a lending library at the cafe for customers. One of the walls will be dedicated to local artists.
The main focus of the cafe would be coffee and cats. Hamelin wants to team with the Denver Dumb Friends League in an effort to offer cats for the cafe, each of which would be available for adoption. There will also be a cuteness corner, which would require a special pass, at the cafe.
Cat Company would also offer its customers flexible cat-sitting options.
“We will ensure that your cat gets the care it needs, including appropriate attention and petting if desired, tailored per your instructions,” according to the company’s website.
“I’d thought I had realized the American dream,” Hamelin says of her former career.
Hamelin moved to the United States from Pakistan ten years ago.
“Having my own business has always been my dream,” Hamelin said. “I want to do something that makes me happy.”
