Summary: A computer thief who burglarized the University of Oregon Law School multiple times has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for his crimes.
On Monday, a man from Springfield was sentenced to 11 years in prison for stealing three Apple iMac computers from the University of Oregon Law School, according to The Register-Guard.
David Tetukevich entered a guilty plea in August to multiple charges of theft, burglary and criminal mischief. He had been accused of breaking into offices at the law school three times last year.
He was arrested in October of 2013 after police released surveillance images.
An employee from Jerry’s Home Improvement Center saw the surveillance images and called police to report that the same person stole appliances from the store over multiple years.
Tetukevich was named as a person of interest in the law school burglaries and Eugene police officers executed a search warrant at his home in Springfield.
The officers found two of the stolen computers, a refrigerator and other appliances taken from Jerry’s. Prosecutor Jay Hall said Tetukevich sold other stolen goods online.
Tetukevich would steal the appliances from Jerry’s by showing employees fake receipts. He was not charged with the thefts from the store because the statute of limitations had passed on those crimes.
Tetukevich issued an apology in court for burglarizing the law school. Gary Deal, the attorney for the suspect, asked Lane Circuit Judge Maurice Merten to consider a shorter sentence.
