Michelle Obama Makes Yet Another Mistake at a Campaign Event

Summary: First lady Michelle Obama has been campaigning for democratic senate candidates in multiple states this month, but she continues to make mistakes along the way.

While working on the campaign trail, first lady Michelle Obama made another mistake, confusing Colorado Democratic Senator Mark Udall with his rival from the Republican party, according to Fox News.

The first lady spoke on Thursday in Denver as part of a campaign event for Udall, who is opposing Rep. Cory Gardner.

Obama spoke about Udall’s record in the Senate and even described him as a “fifth-generation Coloradan.”

“Mark understands what makes this state special,” she said.

So, she got the first name right during her speech, but Udall is definitely not a fifth-generation Coloradan. He was born in Arizona and his father, Mo, served as a congressman for Arizona for decades.

Gardner is actually the fifth-generation resident of Colorado, which is what he touts quite often during his campaign events. Gardner’s website claims he has “family roots dating back to 1886.”

The other mistake made by Obama occurred earlier in October and involved Iowa Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley. Braley is running for the Senate against Republican Joni Ernst.

Obama called Braley Bailey during an event. She got the name right at the second event for Braley she attended, but the White House said that Braley was the Democratic candidate for governor instead of for the Senate it its transcript.

Josh Earnest, the White House Press Secretary, said, “I think the fact that the first lady was campaigning in Iowa yesterday in support of Congressmen Braley’s campaign, and that the vice president is headed there next week says all you need to know about the White House’s commitment to the success of Democrats like Mr. Braley.”

Will Democratic hopefuls continue to ask first lady Michelle Obama to campaign for them despite her mistakes? Use our poll to share your thoughts.
