Video from Underage Children about Voting is Powerful

Summary: We have found a video that was made by children who are not yet old enough to vote, but are concerned about the future of the country.

In tonight’s post, we have embedded a video that features children not yet ready to vote. Despite their age, they are still concerned about the future of our country and how they can change it.

We have provided the transcript of the video in case you do not have time to watch it. The lyrics are very poignant coming from underage children. They are as follows:

I’m too young to vote.

I’m too young to vote.

I’m too young to vote but I’m not too young to care.

But I’m not too young to care.

About the young people in my city.

About the young people in our city.

We spend six times more money to keep someone in prison for a year than we do on someone’s education.

25% of California’s children live in poverty.

I’m too young to vote but not too young to know what’s going on.

And almost a million Californian children still don’t have health care.

I’m too young to vote.

But you could vote for me.

Vote for me.

My generation has been to more funerals than graduations.

Young people of color are being targeted int their schools and on the streets.

I’m a student.

I’m a student.

I’m a student, not a suspect.

Not a suspect.

I wish I could vote but I’m too young.

If I could vote, I’ll vote for a better education.

I would vote for less violence.

I would vote for a better neighborhood.

Elections play a huge part in what happens to us.

You say I’m the future.

You say I’m the future.

But you have the votes to make that future possible.

To make that future possible.

So register, vote November 4th. I would if I could.
