Summary: Here are a few restaurant reviews in some of the places that I’ve been in case you’re traveling or moving in the near future and need somewhere to go!
One of my goals in life is to travel to all 50 states. Sadly, I only have 30 so far – I tend to travel over and over again to the same states. Ugh, my friends really need to move around more. So rude.
Anyway, today I thought I’d share a few restaurant reviews in some of the places that I’ve been in case you’re traveling or moving in the near future and need somewhere to go! I’ve connected each review to Yelp so you can read others’ opinions as well!
Today I’m going to start with the cities that I consider “home base” for my family and I:
Chicago: Mia Francesca
Mia Francesca is one of my cousin’s and my favorite restaurants to go to together, especially when we’re carbo-loading and want some pasta! We went here before our half marathon race and before the Chicago Marathon with our families. They have great Italian food that anyone would enjoy and a fun atmosphere. The best part is that they have several gluten-free pasta and pizza dishes – I always get my favorite, the Penne del Pastore:
Kansas City: Oklahoma Joe’s
If you’re going to Kansas City you have to get barbeque. And if you’re going to eat barbecue in Kansas City, then you have to go to Oklahoma Joe’s. It’s the law. Deal with it. Oklahoma Joe’s is actually run out of a gas station, which means you know it’s amazing. If you eat-in you might be waiting in a pretty long line, but trust me, it’s worth it. You can also get carry-out and large family style orders or catering for parties. There are no words – just try it. Trust me.

Colorado Springs: The Golden Bee
I’ve been going to The Golden Bee since a little kid, and my parents and grandparents much longer than that. It is a part of the Broadmoor resort and hotel in CO Springs, which is a gorgeous old hotel if you get the time to walk around. The Golden Bee is a small, English style pub (although they recently renovated to make it a little larger). If you go later you might have a wait, but after 9pm there is a man who plays on the piano and takes song requests, definitely livening up the atmosphere. If that doesn’t do it for you, their yards and half-yards of beer might draw you in (yes, went here as a child). Special note to my gluten free friends – ask for gluten free bread for your sandwich!
Oh and the best part? Okay, my favorite … They throw a little embroidered bee sticker at you when you first sit down – my family has hundreds of these stickers all over our house (and now my apartment).

I’ll be sure to share more another week!
