Judge Dismisses Case after Violent Outburst in Court

Summary: A judge threw out the case of a soap opera actress when she brought too much drama into the courtroom.

A heated outburst from a plaintiff ending up costing her her entire $50 million lawsuit after she lunged at the defense table during a hearing, Page Six reports.

In 2011, soap opera actress Adriana Ferreyr, 31, filed a civil lawsuit against George Soros, 84, her billionaire ex-boyfriend, after he apparently gave a $2 million apartment he had allegedly promised to her to his ex-wife instead. Ferreyr also claimed that Soros had gotten physical with her. Ferreyr elected to represent herself in the lawsuit.

Last year, television’s Judge Joe Brown was arrested for contempt of court.

Last week, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Debra James convinced Ferreyr to sign medical release forms so that the injuries she allegedly received from Soros could be reviewed by the attorneys and the court. According to the New York Daily News, Ferreyr claimed that Soros injured her foot when he threw a lamp at her during an argument in 2010.

Just after handing the forms over to the defense, Ferreyr changed her mind, and reached across the defense table to grab the paperwork back, becoming disruptive in the process. Visibly angry, she cried, “They’re going to get the information and reveal it to the press to embarrass me.”

In 2013, a drug court judge entered rehab.

Andrew Brettler is representing Soros in the case. A witness said, “She grabbed the whole folder from Andrew very aggressively,” noting that Ferreyr also clutched the sleeve of Brettler’s suit during the incident.

Fed up with Ferreyr’s behavior, Judge James said, “That’s it. Case dismissed. Your behavior is contemptuous.”

After the hearing, Ferreyr said that she was indeed “upset” but argued that she did not interrupt Judge James or grab Brettler. According to Ferreyr, she simply reached across the defense table to retrieve her paperwork when she realized she signed a document that was not related to her case.

A man received an eight month prison sentence for slapping a toddler on a flight.

The case has been a stormy one to say the least. Last year, after a deposition, Ferreyr hit Soros in the head and knocked the glasses off of Martin Singer, Soros’ attorney.

Ferreyr has said she will hire an attorney and will refile the lawsuit.
