Summary: New York’s Herrick office has added Ellen Shapiro as a new real estate partner.
Herrick has thickened their New York City office with the addition of new partner Ellen L. Shapiro. Nabbing her from Squire Patton Boggs , Herrick hopes she will broaden and deepen their already successful real estate department.
“Our real estate department is a versatile group with exceptional experience in almost every facet of real estate law, and a well-honed ability to gauge what is market at any given time,” says real estate department chair Belinda G. Schwartz. “Ellen certainly fits that mold. Her diverse experience in debt and equity financings, restructurings, and hospitality and other complex real estate transactions only adds to our full-service capabilities.”
She received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. Her profile with Herrick explains that her experience is in
“…real estate finance, hospitality and leasing. Ellen has significant experience in representing borrowers, institutional lenders (in their general portfolios and community lending/tax credit portfolios), sellers, purchasers, hotel owners, hotel franchisors/licensors, hotel management companies, and landlords and tenants in leasing matters.
“Her practice extends to all aspects of structuring domestic and cross-border transactions and at every level of the capital stack (equity, mezzanine, mortgage financing). In addition to her real estate-related practice, Ellen represents lenders in asset based lending (ABL) transactions.”
She will be joining the team that recently negotiated a memorandum of understanding between New York FC and the City of New York regarding the construction of a new soccer stadium, as well as the sale of a waterfront development site in Astoria.
