Summary: A man has been arrested in connection with a violent attack on a Massachusetts attorney.
According to the Patriot Ledger, a Quincy, Massachusetts man has been arrested for a disturbing attack on a local attorney.
Police believe that Michael A. Kelly, 53, attacked the attorney on Tuesday because the attorney was representing a relative of Kelly’s in an ongoing probate court case.
Earlier this year, a Queens attorney was bludgeoned to death.
At about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Kelly attacked the attorney, a man in his 60s, in the Ross Garage. Kelly struck as the attorney was approaching his vehicle, which was parked in the garage. Kelly sprayed the attorney with wasp-killer, and then hit him in the head with a hatchet. A witness said that the attack happened on the third floor of the city-owned garage. On Wednesday night, police said that they were looking for two suspects in connection with the attack, but later stated that they felt Kelly was the only assailant involved. A previous witness statement that noted two attackers turned out to be false.
Last year, a social media celebrity pleaded not guilty to murdering an attorney.
The attorney is being treated at Boston Medical Center. He suffered head and facial injuries, and is in fair condition. According to police, he may be released from the hospital soon.
The hatchet and wasp-killer were located in the parking garage after the attack.
Last fall, a Vermont Law student killed his mother and then himself.
Quincy Police Detective Lt. John Steele said that Kelly was charged with attempted murder, as well as two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a man over 60 years old. His arraignment in Quincy District Court was held earlier today. According to the Boston Globe, Kelly will be held without bail.
