After all, it would be entirely validating to leave a law school program not only saddled with six figures of debt, which can be expected at most quality programs, but also with the means to pay off that debt. Since we’ve seen discouraging figures these last few years on how many JD’s were employed in jobs requiring a law degree, some have given up hope. You as a student should nevertheless hold the flame of hope, and, taking a clear-headed look at the obstacles that are before you, rise to the occasion and get involved with a program that is likely to bear fruit for you.

What we see in this chart, just looking at the trends, is that more students were hired in 2009 than in 2014. There seems to be a progressive loss, though for many firms, 2014 was when they began to nose back up.

Certainly a firm’s willingness to hire students goes a long way in making them an interesting prospect.
