In March, Hasti Fakhrai-Bayrooti, 41, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

In January, rapper Suge Knight was arrested for involvement in a fatal hit-and-run case.

Fakhrai-Bayrooti admitted she had taken several Xanax and Suboxone when she crossed into a bike lane on March 15, 2013 on Los Alisos Boulevard, striking Eric Billings, 54, a father of four.

The impact sent Billings over the hood of the car and into the windshield. Billings was killed instantly.

John Stamos was arrested for DUI earlier this month.

Friends of Billings said that he owned a contracting company, and that he enjoyed mentoring young adults and teenagers at a local college.

Is four years enough time to serve?

Fakhrai-Bayrooti expressed deep remorse over the accident. In an interview in July 2013, she said she even attempted suicide. She commented, “I get out of bed with no purpose. I go to bed with no purpose … I don’t know if I’ll get better, if I won’t get better. Sometimes I wish to God it was me and not [Billings].”

In December, a Florida judge was convicted of DUI.

Fakhrai-Bayrooti added that she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, manic depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She is prescribed medication for these illnesses, and was scared that the antidepressants in her blood would result in a conviction.

The four-year sentence is the maximum sentence.
