According to Time, Sean “Diddy” Combs, a well known rapper and producer, will not face felony assault and battery charges related to last month’s dispute with a UCLA football coach.
Last year, rapper Lil Boosie was released from prison.
Diddy, 45, was arrested on June 22. His son, Justin, is a member of the football team at UCLA. According to USA Today, Justin is a redshirt junior. Diddy allegedly got into an altercation with the strength and conditioning coach of the team, and apparently swung a kettle bell weight at some point during the dispute.
In April, Nelly was arrested for drug possession.
Diddy was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, and battery. According to ESPN, bail was set at $160,000, but two officials inside the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department later stated that it was set at $50,000.
A spokesman for Diddy said, “…any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son.”
Suge Knight was arrested in in a fatal hit-and-run case early this year.
Prosecutors have decided not to file felony charges against Diddy, Ricardo Santiago, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, said. Santiago commented, “The case was referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office for misdemeanor filing considerations.”
