Some of the tasks that paralegals are expected to perform include analyzing and summarizing depositions, preparing and answering interrogatories, drafting procedural motions and other routine briefs, performing legal research and analysis, drafting research memos, and performing case and project management. They are often responsible for putting together the paperwork for probate cases, bankruptcies, investigations, and divorce actions.
Each state and country has their own definition of paralegals, affecting their ability to perform certain duties. Be sure to check with your state’s guidelines.
