Greenberg Traurig is the third largest law firm in the U.S. with over 1,800 attorneys. The opening of their Berlin, Germany location in October will be their 38th office. The office will be the fourth European office for the firm. They have offices in London, Warsaw, and Amsterdam.
Their new office will have over 50 German attorneys, 14 of which are shareholders. The Berlin team is internationally known for their expertise in corporate, finance, M&A, and restructuring. They focus on real estate, telecommunications, technology, infrastructure, and media. Berlin is a fast-growing area for technology with connects in Silicon Valley, Tel Aviv, and Seoul.
This new office will create first-class, real estate abilities through the combination one of the top real estate practices in Germany with one of the top in the United States. The corporate practice chair in Germany, Peter Schloring, stated “it is incredibly exciting to be a part of the firm’s next step in its commitment to Europe, its growth into the German market, and to become integrated into one of the few law firms in the world with these practice strengths – that is why this combination is such a compelling match.”
Greenberg Traurig has been wanting to expand into Germany but has been waiting for the right group of people during the right time to make the expansion possible.
