Here are a few of the top paying law firms.
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP takes the top spot of the list, with associate attorneys starting at $115,000. By year 8, associates earn from $175,000 to $280,000 per year.
Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP pays its first year associates $160,000. After eight years, associates are paid $280,000.

Alston & Bird LLP offers first year associates an impressive $130,000 to $145,000. At year seven, many earn from $180,000 to $240,000.
Baker & McKenzie pays its first year associates anywhere from $110,000 to $160,000. After eight years, these attorneys earn $190,000 to $280,000.
Arnold & Porter pays its first year associates a minimum of $160,000. After eight years with the firm, attorneys earn up to $280,000.
Bingham McCutcheon pays its first year associates $145,000. After nine years, attorneys earn $260,000 to $290,000. Bonuses range from $10,000 to $90,000.
Baker Botts LLP also pays its attorneys exceptionally well. First year associates earn $110,000 to $160,000. After eight years, earnings are reported at around $170,000 to $195,000.
Allen & Overy also pays its associates well. First year associates earn $160,000, and by the seventh year, many earn $265,000.
