Summary: Criminal defense attorney Aaron Delgado left the keys inside his Audi sports car outside his home where it was stolen for the day by Michael Bancs.
Attorney Aaron Delgado drove his 2014 Audi R8 home Friday morning, just after midnight and parked it outside his garage. The car is valued at over $100,000. Delgado noticed the car was missing around a few hours later at 8am.
The car was found that night outside a 7-Eleven in Manatee County. The suspect, Bancs, was standing next to it in a drunken stupor. Bancs has a history of theft; he was released from prison after three years in February for burglarizing a home and vehicle. He was already wanted for burglarizing a relatives home.
When Bancs was approached next to the car, he denied that he had taken the car and driven it. However, when Bancs was in the back of the cop car, he admitted that he had gotten the car to 201 mph on Interstate 75. The 7-Eleven clerk also told police that Bancs had come into the store bragging about the car, saying it was his when the clerk praised it.
A Bradenton officer spotted the car earlier in the day and followed it but Bancs soon after sped off and vanished from his sight. The car was easy to spot for because of its look and unique license plate, “0 GLTY.”

Delgado is a partner at the Daytona Beach law firm of Damore, Delgado, Romanik & Rawlins. He thanked the police for their resources and quick response but it was pretty clear that he was a little embarrassed by the incident. Delgado refused to comment on whether or not he had left the keys in his car. There have been over 350 car thefts this year in the city, putting it way ahead of normal numbers. For 2014, around 350 was the total for the whole year.
