Miles & Stockbridge P.C. welcomes top trial attorney William R. “Billy” Martin to their Washington D.C. office. He brings with him Dan Schwager, a former chief counsel to the House of Representatives Ethics Committee and federal corruption prosecutor as well as Sasha Hodge-Wren, a FCPA attorney and former public defender.
Martin will be with the firm as a principal. He has been awarded by the D.C. Bar Association as a “Legend of the Bar” and by the National Law Journal as one of the “50 Most Influential Minority Attorneys.”
He has represented large corporations for criminal and complex civil matters that went before federal and state courts, arbitration, and administrative hearings. Martin has also advised high-profile clients such as members of the NFL, NBA, NHL, and political figures as well as the United States House of Representatives Committee on Ethics during their investigation on a member of Congress.
Martin has served as the Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney for D.C., Attorney in charge of the United States Attorney’s Office in Dayton, Ohio, and a Senior Trial Attorney with the Justice Department’s Organized Crime Strike Force in San Francisco. He started his own firm in 2012 with Geoff Gitner. Martin is a highly-respected senior partner in the Washington D.C. legal community. His partner, Gitner, will be retiring after being in the practice for almost 45 years.
Schwager and Hodge-Wren will be joining the firm as counsel.
