Summary: Two 19-year-old girls hid heroin in their vagina after a traffic stop, one was unable to later remove the package on her own.
A sheriff’s deputy pulled over a Chrysler PT Cruiser in Arizona driven by Michael Torrez, a known and convicted drug trafficker. There were two 19-year-old female passengers in the car, Sarah Valencia and Miranda Baldonado. Torrez was on parole for a drug conviction in New Mexico. Valencia and Baldonado were also from New Mexico.
After growing increasingly suspicious of the group because they were unable to answer basic questions about their destination, the deputy used a drug-sniffing K-9 to examine the outside of the car. The dog zoned in on the back hatch where a pound of heroin was recovered.
It was then that the deputy also discovered that the two female passengers had hidden packages of heroin in their private parts while they were pulled over. Valencia was able to remove the package hidden in her vagina on her own. Baldonado was unable to the package and was taken to a hospital to have it removed. She was briefly hospitalized for the procedure.
Over a pound and a half of heroin was recovered. All three were charged with several felonies, including transportation of narcotics for sale and possession. The girls were also charged with evidence tampering.
