California has been a growing hub for Sidley Austin LLP 
. The latest partner to join the Century City team is Vijay S. Sekhon. He will be joining the M&A and Private Equity practices. His work will focus on handling transactions for public and private companies and private equity firms.
Sekhon will be the sixth partner to join the Southern California offices of Los Angeles and Century City at Sidley this year. Previous hires include Clay Friedman, Joel Rothstein, Chad Hummel, Matt Thompson, and Dan Clivner.
His previous work was at a law firm where he was the head of the corporate practice. He also served as a senior counsel in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission. He completed a judicial internship with former Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist in the Supreme Court. He has published on private equity and M&A for several academic and practitioner journals, including Business & Finance and Stanford Journal of Law.

Sekhon’s main duties will include representing private equity firms and their portfolio companies in acquisitions, mergers, dispositions, and restructurings, as well as working on public equity offerings, public debt issuances, private placement of debt and equity for private and public organizations.
