Minnesota Lawmakers Change Their Story

Summary: After being caught together in a parked car and denying the story to the media, the lawmakers are now quietly dropping their argument against the deputy.

When will people learn that you can’t hide the truth? Politicians seem to need this reminder the most. When the story first broke about two Minnesota lawmakers being caught making out in a car, both denied the story passionately, calling the park ranger a liar. Now they are changing their story.

Rep. Tara Mack is no longer denying the incident after learning that the details in the rangers note were available to the public. Dakota County Sheriff Tim Leslie released his version of the conversation with Mack. She changed her version and eventually told the sheriff she was glad that deputy arrived when he did so that it could “save her from an uncomfortable situation.”

Mack was found inside a car with fellow House member Tim Kelly with her pants unzipped and pulled down. They were cited for being a public nuisance but had initially tried to say the deputy had a vendetta against them and made up the story. Mack is married to a minister.

The lawmakers had said they were going to fight the citation but both ended up paying their $260 fine. The citation is a misdemeanor. Mack said in a statement that she still disagreed with some of the deputy’s notes but was not going to file a complaint. She said she just wants to move on and place her focus on her marriage.
