Summary: Akerman’s real estate group is already ranked one of the top five in the United States. Now the group is adding a LEED-certified partner to its ranks.
Akerman LLP continues the growth of its Real Estate Practice Group in Chicago. The firm has announced the addition of a new transactional partner, Lawrence Eiben, to its team. Akerman is a top 100 US law firm that works with clients across the continent. Eiben joins the group from K&L Gates.
Eiben has a strong background in commercial real estate. He also brings substantial experience in green and renewable energy project development and financing. His practice will focus on a range of transactional matters, including the representation of real estate funds, real estate investment trusts, real estate joint ventures and developers. He will also handle industrial, office, and retail leasing issues for tenants and landlords.
As a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (“LEED”) Accredited Professional, his national real estate practice aligns with Akerman’s expanding Green & Sustainable Development Practice. Eiben’s work in the field includes serving clients that are owners of healthcare, educational, and office facilities that receive LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Eiben is an active member of the Urban Land Institute’s Sustainable Development Product Council. A number of lawyers at Akerman already hold leadership positions at the ULI, such as Miami Managing Partner Neisen Kasdin, who serves as the governor and trustee for ULI.
Akerman has been enjoying a period of growth, especially in its Real Estate Practice Group. The Group is ranked among the top five largest in the United States and has grown 11 percent in the last year.
