Summary: Who would have thought that a GoPro could prove domestic abuse?
Men face an uphill battle when trying to defend themselves against abusive women. One Army Ranger feared that his complaint of domestic abuse would be ignored so he used a GoPro to document the abuse. Michael (only his first name is used because he is a victim of domestic abuse)Â strapped the GoPro to his waist where it could record the evidence.
Michael says, “this is just one of many instances where I’ve had to use the camera to either prove her guilt or prove my innocence and that’s the only reason I am carrying it.†Michael said the abuse occurred when he picked up or dropped off his 2-year-old twins with his ex.
The GoPro was able to pick up 37-year-old Corinna Novak grabbing Michael in the genitals. The two were exchanging custody of their twins when the incident was recorded. She was later arrested for domestic battery.
A GoPro can catch things on its screen from five feet away and from head to foot. The angle is remarkably wide for such a small thing. Michael’s evidence will help him as they prepare for court. He says, “hopefully it goes to show a little bit of validity to what I’ve been doing and what I’ve been saying and disproving what she’s been saying.â€
