Summary: A lawyer from India took peeping to the next level by placing a hidden camera on his shoe, following women around a mall, and filming up their skirts.
An Indian corporate lawyer for a firm in Noida got the great idea to put a small recorder on his shoe and film up women’s skirts at a mall in Delhi. Thirty-four-year-old Ashish Sharma attached the spy camera to his right shoe under the laces to record the clips of women’s private area.
The manager of a store at the mall in Delhi’s Saket area noticed Sharma’s suspicious behavior and asked him questions. The manager, Sunil Arora, told the news “I found his activities suspicious as he was putting his right leg near girls. I informed the mall manager, who came with three security guards.”
Sharma panicked when he was stopped by the store manager and started to run away but the security guards had already arrived. They took him to a mall security room where they found the camera on record mode. They immediately called the police.
The policed found 12 indecent video clips on the 16GB memory card of the camera. They are now trying to determine if Sharma has done this before and if he has put any of the clips on the Internet. Sharma says he got the idea from some websites.
He is charged with section 354-C and 354-D of the Indian Penal Code – watching or capturing an image of a woman engaging in a private act in circumstances where she would usually have the expectation of not being observed either by the perpetrator and stalking.
