Summary: A Tampa, Florida law firm will lay off over 150Â employees by the end of November.
According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, the Law Offices of Daniel C. Consuegra PLÂ is set to cut 154 positions and will close its title company unit, Consuegra Title LLC.
Hundreds of employees at a New Jersey law firm may suffer layoffs.
The layoffs should occur at the end of November. The law firm notified the state of Florida of its plans through a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, also called a WARN letter.
In March, layoffs were announced at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman.
The title company will close its doors for good, the letter states. Twenty-eight employees will be affected by the closing on November 30.
State records show that Consuegra Title was incorporated in 2012.
The firm’s attorneys handle mortgage default, collections, commercial litigation, replevins and repossessions, bankruptcy, and real estate. The firm was incorporated in 2007.
Layoffs have also affected law schools, such as Western Michigan University Cooley Law School.
The law offices will remain open. According to ABA Journal, the firm is known primarily for its foreclosure practice. At this point, it is not clear whether any layoffs have already occurred or what positions will be affected by future layoffs.
