The Dewey & LeBouef case has captivated the attention of lawyers worldwide. After all of the scandal and intrigue, a protracted trial, and long deliberations, the jury has finally come back with a partial verdict.

Former Dewey Chariman Steven Davis, Executive Director Stephen DiCarmine, and CFO Joel Sanders have been found not guilty on multiple counts of falsifying records:

  • Joel Sanders: not guilty on 13 of 35 counts of falsifying business records.
  • Stephen DiCarmine: not guilty on 17 of 31 counts of falsifying business records.
  • Steven Davis: not guilty of 19 of 31 counts of falsifying business records.

According to the New York Law Journal, Judge Robert M. Stolz has told the jury to continue deliberating the remaining charges. Those charges include conspiracy, fraud, violations of the Martin Act, the remaining counts of falsifying records, and the most serious charge–grand larceny.

If convicted, the three men could serve up to 25 years in prison each.
