11 of the Weirdest Laws on the Books in the US

Summary: Most things that are illegal follow some degree of common sense: no killing anyone, no stealing, no cheating on your taxes. But some states have laws on their books that are just absolutely absurd. Here’s a list of 11 of them.

1. Connecticut

A pickle can’t be called a pickle unless it can bounce.

2. Hawaii

Passengers in cars must wear seatbelts, or face a $100 fine. However, it’s perfectly legal to ride in the bed of a truck!

3. Alaska

No partying with moose – it’s illegal to give one of the giant animals a beer.

4. Idaho

Cannibalism is strictly forbidden, unless a person had to eat his friend in order to survive.

5. Colorado

Drinking on horseback is an arrestable offense – it’s technically drinking while operating a vehicle.

6. Kentucky

Dying chicks, ducklings, or rabbits an unnatural color is absolutely against the law.

7. Indiana

No catching fish with bare hands. Fishing poles only!

8. Maryland

Non-latex condoms may not be sold in vending machines – but condoms of the latex variety are fair game.

9. Mississippi

Having one “illegitimate child” is fine, but more than one kid out of wedlock? That’s illegal.

10. Arizona

No layperson is permitted to change a light bulb – it must be done by a licensed electrician.

And then, finally:

11. Oklahoma

It is absolutely forbidden to have a sleeping donkey in your bathtub after 7 pm.
