The question everyone is wondering about this strange case is why the boy’s father, Chris Few was targeted by police. He has no outstanding warrants and no firearms were found in the vehicle. Despite this lack of justification for cornering the car, Jeremy Mardis was shot five times in the head and chest in the front seat of his father’s car.

At the time of the shooting, the officers were working second jobs at city marshals. Greenhouse is a full-time Marksville police lieutenant and Stafford is a marshal in Alexandria. The shooting involved two other officers on a dead-end street in Marksville, Louisiana.
District Attorney Charles Riddle has removed himself from the case since officer Greenhouse’s father has worked as an assistant prosecutor in the District Attorney’s office for over 13 years. Instead, the state Attorney General will take over the case.
State police stated that the officers opened fire on the vehicle after pursuing the car Tuesday evening. No matter the reason, this incident will not help the fragile relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
