Summary: BakerHostetler continues their efforts to grow their Intellectual Property Group with the addition of another highly qualified partner.
With a focus on the enforcement of patent rights in the life sciences industry, the addition of a partner in the Intellectual Property and Biotechnology, Chemical, and Pharmaceutical team at BakerHostetler’s New York office will prove to be valuable. Benjamin Hsing is joining BakerHostetler from Kaye Scholer.
Hsing has been recognized by Chambers USA 2015 as a leading patent litigator in New York. His practice focuses on Paragraph IV, Hatch-Waxman Act, and Abbreviated New Drug Applications litigation for high-profile national and international pharmaceutical companies that go before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. District Courts. In these kinds of cases, he excels at exclusivity rights through mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
He was a patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, giving him ample experience to lead clients through the process of proceedings and due diligence investigations that relate to acquisitions and licensing issues. He also counsels clients on validity, enforceability, infringement, and clearance opinions.
Leader of the Intellectual Property Group at BakerHostetler, John Weber, said, “Ben’s experience litigation on behalf of high-profile branded drug companies is confirmation of his deep knowledge of Paragraph IV certification. Our clients will benefit from his distinctive skill set.”
Hsing received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School and a M.S. and B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.A. from Columbia University. He also speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.
BakerHostetler has added two other members to their IP Group recently. Shannon McCue joined as a partner in the Cleveland office’s Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Science Prosecution team. Allen Sokal joined the Washington D.C. office. The law firm has been making the growth of their IP Group a priority.
