Summary: Caitlyn Jenner, the star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, faces a new lawsuit due to her involvement in a deadly car crash in Malibu, California.
Call her In Trouble.
Caitlyn Jenner is getting sued for negligence. In February of this year, the Olympic gold medalist (Caitlyn was born Bruce Jenner) and transgender activist was involved in a car crash in Malibu that killed one woman.
On the Pacific Coast Highway, Jenner’s Cadillac Escalade rear-ended a car driven by Kim Howe, pushing her into oncoming traffic. A sports utility vehicle driven by Peter Wolf-Milesi hit Howe’s car head on and killed her.
The family of Wolf-Milesi filed a lawsuit against Jenner because of the injuries sustained in the accident. According to the suit, the Wolf-Milesi family and their passenger has faced serious injuries because of the crash. Wolf-Milesi suffered wrist injuries and his baby was unresponsive after the crash. His wife suffered blunt-force injuries and requires ongoing treatment.
The lawsuit states the family is also suffering the emotional damage of having been in a “collision that has taken the life of another.”
Jenner’s publicist has not commented on this suit; but after the accident initially occurred, Jenner, the father of models Kylie and Kendall Jenner, released a statement.
“It is a devastating tragedy. I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them,” the statement said.
The district attorney did not charge Jenner with manslaughter. The LA County Sheriff’s Department gave the D.A. a report in mid-August stating that based on evidence, her conduct was not “unreasonable.” They determined she was not speeding, but she was traveling at an unsafe speed for the traffic conditions present that day.
Jenner is reportedly being sued by Howe’s family and another driver who was also involved in the accident.
Jenner is represented by lawyer Blair Berk of Tarlow & Berk. Berk is a high profile celebrity lawyer who has represented stars like Mel Gibson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lindsay Lohan, Kiefer Sutherland, and Britney Spears.
