Law Firm Donates 100K to Bike Walk Connecticut

Summary: A Connecticut law firm that represented a bicyclist that was run over by a truck has donated $100,000 to an organization that promotes safety for all sharing the road.

Connecticut law firm Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder made a generous donation to Bike Walk Connecticut. The nationally recognized law firm with offices in Danbury, Bridgeport, and New Haven gave $100,000 in honor of Sean and Colleen Kelly Alexander.

The Alexander’s were elected to the board of Bike Walk Connecticut last year. They have done a great deal of work to promote safety for bicyclists after Colleen Kelly was injured riding her bike home from work in 2011.

Colleen Kelly was run over by a 30-ton freight truck that ran a stop sign. The truck ripped open her abdomen and broke her pelvis and legs while severely damaging her leg muscles and tearing off large amounts of skin. She spent five weeks in a coma.

She was extremely lucky and survived the horrific accident. She has since gone on to run 50 races and complete 30 triathlons, four of which were ironman races. She also speaks publicly about gratitude and living a purpose-driven life.

Their focus and deeply personal perspective on this vital issue should cause all of us to pay close attention. We are inspired by their work and dedication, and we’re pleased to support the work of Bike Walk Connecticut.”
