Summary: Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter announced a call for submissions for the 2016 Power Lawyers list.

Every year, The Hollywood Reporter publishes a list called “Power Lawyers,” which features some of Hollywood’s top entertainment attorneys . This year, the trade publication plans to release the special issue on April 20th, and yesterday, they published a call for submissions. Additionally, they have created a new category for studio dealmakers and in-house legal executives.

According to THR’s post, “The Power Lawyers issue spotlights the Top 100 attorneys behind the year’s biggest deals, major litigation, and other areas of entertainment, as determined by THR editors.”

THR is seeking entertainment lawyers in the areas of Corporate Dealmaking, Litigation, Talent Dealmaking, Technology/Convergence, Troubleshooting, and Studio Dealmakers. Troubleshooting refers to any attorney who has handled distinguished entertainment-related cases involving criminal activity or personal problems like divorce. The Studio Dealmakers category is open to in-house lawyers in agencies, networks, and the like.

Examples of attorneys who made last year’s cut include Craig Emanuel of Loeb & Loeb, Nina Shaw of Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein & Lezcano, and Richard Kendall of Kendall Brill & Klieger.

Emanuel represents showrunner Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story and American Crime Story), actor Daniel Day-Lewis, and actress Julie Delpy.

Shaw handled Lupita Nyong’o’s transition from 12 Years a Slave to Star Wars. She also represents Selma director Ava Duvernay.

Kendall is a litigator, and he represented Paramount in their successful legal battle against a group of Wall Street investors who claimed they didn’t see returns on their investments in films such as Mean Girls.

The deadline for nominations is March 1, 2016. To apply or nominate a power lawyer, fill out this nomination form.
