The mother, Kathleen Andrews, 51, suffered the most serious injuries of stab wounds and injuries to her head and blunt trauma. A neighbor stated that Christopher Andrews worked at a law practice in New York City. The family had lived in the home for ten years but it is unknown if they own the home.
Police were called to the home after a call from a woman requesting help came in. Andrews was on the front lawn with a weapon in his hand. The 15-year-old son was also in the lawn holding a baseball bat. The son complied with the officer’s request to drop the weapon, stating that he had taken it from his father so he could not beat the family with it. Andrews did not follow the officer’s orders and continued to advance towards them when the officer made the decision to shoot.
