Knife Found on OJ Simpson Estate Turned in Years Later

Summary: A retired LAPD officer was in possession of a knife supposedly found buried on the former estate of OJ Simpson when it was being torn down.

O.J. Simpson’s name is back in news even though he is currently serving time in a Nevada prison for kidnapping and armed robbery. His murder trial starting in 1994 was one of the most widely publicized events in American history. An estimated 100 million people tuned in to hear the verdict on October 3, 1995. The “not guilty” decision is still talked about and questioned to this day.

The case remains open to this day, allowing it to still be investigated even if Simpson cannot be tried for the murders again. The latest investigation into the case comes with the discovery of a knife from his former Brentwood estate.

The Los Angeles police announced that a knife was found by a worker on the property, supposedly back when the estate was demolished in 1998. The worker handed it over to a traffic officer outside the home that has had the knife ever since. The officer was off-duty and possibly already retired from the department when he was given the knife while working on a “movie” job nearby.

The knife is being tested for DNA and hairs. The worker is believed to have found the folding buck knife buried on the edge of the property. In January, the retired officer contacted a friend in the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division, asking for the Departmental Record number of the case so he could include it with the knife framed on his wall. The friend mentioned it to his supervisor, not thinking it was a big deal when it was.

The police have asked that the original construction worker come forward so more accurate information can be obtained because this entire story could turn out to be complete bogus.
