A former Miss Bosnia and Playboy model has been sentenced to just over two years in prison for her role in an organized crime gang. Slobodanka Tosic, 29, lured a Balkan gang leader to an ambush six years ago by using his love for her.
Prosecutors argued that Tosic was a member of one of the largest organized crime crews in Bosnia and Herzegovina since the Bosnian War. Undercover investigation “Operation Doll” led to the indictment of Tosic and 31 others on charges of armed robbery, money laundering, and murder.

Tosic was caught in Croatia and extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina for a trial in a Sarajevo court. Investigators claim her connection was with crew leader Darko Elez. The attempted murder was orchestrated by Elez where Tosic persuaded Djordje Zdrale to drive her to a friend’s house to pick up books for a college class. She knew he would drive her there because of his feelings for her. Gunmen were waiting at the house but Zdrale was able to get away unharmed. He is now serving a 20-year sentence for murder.

The gang has been linked to a car bomb in 2008 that killed three people and two other murders in 2007 and 2008 that were done with automatic weapons. It is also believed that the gang committed a series of car heists for a total of $3.4 million and a post office robbery of $370,000 three years before.
The incidents happened during the same time that Tosic was pursuing her modeling career. She was featured on the cover of the Serbian version of Playboy and won the Miss Photogenic prize for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2005. She also appeared on the Serbian version of “Survivor.” She denies the allegations against her and will likely file an appeal.
