Summary: No clear motive is known yet as to why a mother threw her two young boys off an apartment balcony is Moscow, Russia.
A Moscow woman threw her 4 and 7-year-old sons off a 15th floor balcony because she was “fed up.” Russian media outlets report that the 27-year-old mother showed no emotion as she looked at the mangled bodies of her young children.
A surveillance video at the building shows a man coming outside to discover the horrific scene of one of the boys lying just outside the video’s frame. Surveillance footage inside shows the mother, Galina Ryabkova, coming down the stairs and being watched by other neighbors as she sits on a bench in the lobby.

One neighbor recounted the incident, “My wife woke me up and said that there were children falling out. We ran out and saw two children lying on the ground in front of the main door. Just at that time their mother was leaving the building. We asked if these were her children and she replied, emotionlessly, ‘Yes, I threw them away.’”

The family lived on the 8th floor of the building but Ryabkova took them to the 15th floor to toss them off a balcony. She has only told the Russian authorities that her boys were “angels in heaven” and will say no more.

Ryabkova has attempted to commit suicide in the past. Possible motives for killing her children may be linked to a claim that she wants to divorce her husband or to a rumor that she just learned her husband had been cheating on her. Her husband was away on business during the incident.
She will be sent to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation.
