Summary: As presidential campaigns start to prepare for the convention, Donald Trump is hiring attorneys to help his campaign.
Presidential candidate Donald Trump is gearing up for a fight by hiring another attorney. Trump is anticipating a contested convention that he hopes prominent Republican political attorney William McGinley can advise on. McGinley will aid Trump’s campaign by advising on delegate selection battles in upcoming states. He will also know of probable challenges to the credentials of delegates at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

McGinley was of counsel to the convention’s rules committee in 2012 and is a partner at Jones Day now. The firm is also the home to Trump’s top political attorney Don McGahn. He has extensive knowledge on the legal workings of the Republican Party’s rules. In 2012 at the GOP convention, he was able to persuade the credentials committee to replace 10 Ron Paul delegates from Maine for 10 that supported Mitt Romney.

His other credentials include working as deputy counsel to the RNC, as counsel to the RNC’s Standing Committee on Rules, general counsel to the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and representing many members of Congress that have had ethical problems.
Trump is switching his campaign from gathering support to locking in the delegates that cast ballots at the convention. He already hired Paul Manafort as convention manager, Rick Wiley as the national political director.
