Summary: Husch Blackwell boosted their rankings by adding a large Milwaukee-based law firm to their numbers.
In an announcement Friday, Husch Blackwell has stated they will join forces with Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek, a Milwaukee law firm. The merger with the already expanding Whyte firm will enhance their joint annual gross revenue to $346 million, putting them within the rankings of The American Lawyer’s list of the country’s top 100 grossing law firms. The new firm will operate under the Husch Blackwell name, to take effect July 1.
Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek merged with Varga Berger Ledsky Hayes & Casey of Chicago last year. That merger grew their attorney head count to 140 in over 50 industry and specialty areas. Now the new Husch Blackwell will have over 700 attorneys and 1,504 employees working from 19 offices. The offices are in St, Louis, Milwaukee, Madison and Waukesha County, Wisconsin; Austin, Dallas, and Houston, Texas; Kansas City, Jefferson City, and Springfield, Missouri; Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska; Denver, Colorado; Memphis and Chattanooga, Tennessee; Phoenix, Arizona; Washington, D.C.; Chicago, Illinois, and London.
Husch CEO and Managing Partner Greg Smith said, “Like many law firms, we continually look for growth opportunities. But we don’t look to grow simply for the sake of growing. It is essential that our growth is rooted in delivering greater value to our clients.â€
Husch Chairman Maurice Watson said, “This combination strengthens the depth and scale of our industry groups, including technology, manufacturing, real estate and financial services.â€
