Summary: A Baton Rouge lawyer was indicted for possessing and distributing child pornography.
A prominent lawyer indicted with distributing child bestiality porn says he did it as a joke. The lawyer, Christopher Young, 53, is the brother of a former Baton Rouge, Louisiana official.
A news release from the Department of Justice said Young owned a hostel in Costa Rica where he frequently traveled. While there, he allegedly obtained a tape of two young boys engaging in bestiality. From 2013 to 2015, he allegedly shared the child pornography to 38 individuals. On May 12, he was indicted by a federal jury in the Middle District of Louisiana.
According to NBC 12 News, Young is a prominent attorney and lobbyist. He represented the French Quarter Business during a smoking ban in 2014, arguing that the ban would tamper with local culture.
Young’s lawyer sent a statement to NBC 12 that stated Young didn’t know his bestiality video was child pornography.
The statement said, “Chris Young has never possessed or distributed child pornography. Regrettably, the government has chosen to prosecute him for forwarding an inappropriate video that was sent in jest. Mr. Young will respond to these charges in court at the appropriate time.”
The FBI is investigating, and Assistant United States Attorneys Cam T. Le and René I. Salomon is prosecuting the case. It is noted that an indictment is not a judgement of innocence or guilt, but an accusation by a Grand Jury.
