Summary: Amber Heard may get a swift payday in her divorce from movie star, Johnny Depp.
TMZ caught Amber Heard laughing and smiling after exiting her lawyer’s office on Saturday, and the internet went wild. Some speculated that she wasn’t acting like a real victim of domestic abuse and others said she’s a human being who deserves a range of emotions. Both reactions exhibited the same thing—that people are emotionally invested in her ugly divorce from Johnny Depp.
Last week the beautiful actress filed for divorce from Depp, 52, the superstar of Pirates of the Carribbean and the Alice and Wonderland franchises. She stated in court papers that they had irreconcilable differences, and the timing of her filing shocked the public because it came days after the death of Depp’s mother, whom reportedly did not like Heard.
Depp, who is worth a reported $400 million, did not have a prenuptial agreement with Heard, who he met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011. They married soon after on Depp’s private island in the Bahamas, but their marriage lasted only 15 months. In the divorce papers, Heard sought $50,000 a month in spousal support along with Depp’s Range Rover and house. Depp asked for the support to be denied.
Depp was previously in a long-term relationship with model Vanessa Paradis, 42, and they have two children together. Depp allegedly dumped Paradis for the younger Heard, 30.
Details of the divorce have been shocking. On Friday, Heard claimed that Depp had a drug and alcohol problem, and that he hit her. Photographs of a bruise she suffered after he allegedly hit her with an iPhone were presented to the court, and she was granted a restraining order. Depp’s ex, Paradis, along with his first wife and daughter Lily-Rose Depp spoke to the media that he was not a violent person. Comedian Doug Stanhope published a bombshell allegation in The Wrap titled “Johnny Depp is being blackmailed by Amber Heard—Here’s How I know.” In the piece, Stanhold said he and Depp have been friends for years and that he views Heard as a manipulative person, out for his money.
“Bingo [Stanhope’s girlfriend] and I were at Johnny’s house for most of that Saturday until just before the alleged assault. We assumed initially that his dour mood was because of his mother’s death the day before. But he opened up in the most vulnerable of ways that it was not only his mother, but that Amber was now going to leave him, threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms,” Stanhope wrote.
Page Six reports that Heard may wind up with $20 million when this is all said and done. No wonder she was all smiles on Saturday.
