Summary: A report said that Simply Hired may be acquired, and that the website will shut down on June 26.

Simply Hired will be simply no more starting June 26. The job search engine has nearly 30 million monthly users in 24 countries, and one report said that the site is in the midst of an acquisition.

Partners of the website were notified through email on Friday that the partnership agreement was ending on June 26.

“The business of Simply Hired will cease operations as of June 26, 2016. Accordingly, we will be winding down our Partnership Program and all related platform services prior to this date,” the email said.

Simply Hired was founded in 2004, and according to Tech Crunch, it has been backed by investors such as Dave McClure, Guy Kawasaki, Fox, and Ronald Conway. In 2007, there were rumors Google wanted to acquire the search engine, but the acquisition did not happen. It has not yet been released who may be acquiring Simply Hired now, although Tech Crunch hints that LinkedIn may be interested. While Simply Hired is not the most high-tech website out there, it has the user numbers that make it a powerful tool.

Simply Hired had claimed to search 6 million jobs across 700,000 employers for its 30 million monthly users. Its competitor Indeed said that it has more than 180 million monthly users; and Monster, which has high brand recognition, has much less than both of the companies.

Tech Crunch concluded that, “Although [Simply Hired] will be losing some of its reach by terminating those partnerships, there are likely to be other direct assets that remain intact. That is one reason why at least a part-acquisition might make sense, rather than a full-out shutdown due to lack of funds.â€

EreMedia reported that employees were informed of the company shutting down last week.
