During the daytime talk show The Ellen Degeneres Show, Degeneres showed one of the woman’s real estate signs in a segment called What’s wrong with these ads…and these signs? Degeneres then pronounced the woman’s name as “Titty Pierce” when it is actually Titi (Tee Tee) Pierce. The woman, whose name is of Nigerian origin, said she faced “immediate ridicule” after the breast joke was made.
“In all of her 35 years of life, no one has ever referred to Ms. Pierce as ‘titty’ until the Defendant did so on February 22, 2016 on national television,” the lawsuit said.
Pierce is also suing the show’s producers and Warner Brothers Entertainment, which is the parent company of the show. Pierce claims that show producers did not blur out her phone number, which was on display in her public sign, and she said she later received “ridiculing and harassing” calls while she was at a funeral. It is noted that on the web clip, the phone number is blurred out.
