Summary: McDermott Will & Emery revealed details of the hip swag they give New York summer associates.
McDermott Will & Emery is getting hip with their swag. Bloomberg Law reported that the international law firm gave New York summer associates tickets to the sold-out play, Hamilton, which are valued at almost $1,100 a piece!
The New York branch also offered access to a suite at the Mets’ Citi Field and an open invitation to the firm’s party at the Central Park Boat House. But it’s not just New York summer associates that have all the fun.
“At the national level, we just wrapped up a retreat where we sent our Summer Associates from all US offices to Chicago for training, where we hosted a cooking competition with the Summer Associates on teams with each other lead by a chef. (We mixed them up so they would meet each other). We also hosted a casual wine tasting and dinner at the national hiring partner’s home in Chicago. Our Summer Associates also took in a baseball game at a suite at the White Sox game,” McDermott spokesperson Chris Rieck told Bloomberg Law.
According to McDermott’s website, the international firm has over 1,000 lawyers, and they have offices in locations such as Boston, Chicago, Dallas, London, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, and Washington, D.C. In 2016, the firm was recommended by Legal 500 US 2016 as a leader in 38 practice areas.
McDermott is known to be generous to its associates, but that also means that they want the best.

Candidates are also expected to demonstrate a balance of academic and personal success. Careers at the firm include judicial clerks, laterals, trainee solicitors, and openings for European graduate recruits.”
