Summary: A number of new divorce announcements for famous couples have been given lately with many of them for marriages that had lasted over 10 years.
There is something about summer that sets the mood for new romance. However, summer also seems to be a popular time for the stars to take the official step toward divorce. News of three famous couples splitting this summer has hit the fan.
- Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Lockwood- The couple of 12 years have filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Presley, as the heiress to Elvis’s $300 million estate, became concerned that her husband was using her for her money. This concern grew after a $109,000 credit card bill fell into her hands. Presley has been married to actor Danny Keough, Nicolas Gage, and Michael Jackson. They have twin 7-year-old girls together.
- Nicolas Gage and Alice Kim- Presley’s ex has had his share of failed marriages as well with this one to waitress turned actress of 11 years ending. The 52-year-old star was seen just days after the news of their divorce broke on a romantic dinner with another woman. Fortunately the couple has no kids.
- Dennis Quaid and Kimberly Buffington- This couple has been straddling the divorce line for a few years. Buffington, a real estate agent turned handbag designer, first filed for divorce in March 2012 but soon called it off. A few months later the paperwork was filed again but this time by Quaid. Once again it was called off until she finally pulled the plug. She is seeking joint custody of their 8-year-old twins and spousal support. Their marriage lasted 12 years.
