Summary: The Morning Ledger profiled four celebrities who are making green selling green.
While our nation is slowly starting to come around when it comes to reefer, many people are cashing in on the legal marijuana game, and that includes celebrities.
The Morning Ledger dived into the trend of “Holly-weed.” While famous people toking up is nothing new, (hello Snoop Dogg!), the business of actually legally supplying marijuana is something that is newly booming.
The publication said that Whoopi Goldberg teamed up with her friend Maya Elizabeth to create Whoopi & Maya, a line of cannabis. Morning Ledge said, “As new female potpreneurs, these two women are making a fortune out of the multi-billion dollar “green rush.””
Outspoken feminist and star of Charmed, Rose McGowan set her sights on investing in marijuana too, the Morning Ledger reports. She has said publicly that she is an investor in a marijuana manufacturing company.
Actor-director Kevin Smith of Jay and Silent Bob, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy fame tied in a medical marijuana dispensary with his new movie Tusk. He now sells ganja buds that are branded with the movie’s name.
Tommy Chong from the legendary comedy duo Cheech and Chong has long been famous for promoting the stoner lifestyle, but he is also in the weed business. Morning Ledger states he owns his own company called Chong’s Choice.
While Morning Ledger did not state how rich these celebrities were from their pot ventures, it said that the medical marijuana business is worth almost $7 billion in the United States. In 2020 that number could quadruple.
