A leaked new video appears to show Johnny Depp violently losing it. The video, published by TMZ, shows Depp angrily slamming kitchen cupboard doors and throwing a wine bottle and glass in the presence of his wife, Amber Heard. It was recorded months before Heard, 30, was granted a temporary restraining order against the Pirates of the Caribbean star, 53.
Heard and Depp are involved in a bitter divorce. The actress claimed Depp abused her verbally and physically during their brief marriage, which Depp denies. Before the release of the video, he reportedly had assembled a team of 20 witnesses to speak on his behalf that he was not abusive, although the tape appears to show otherwise.
The video was released on Friday, and while it is rumored that Heard leaked it, TMZ stated that it is more than likely not admissible in court because Depp did not know he was being filmed. However, a source said that Heard has entered the tape as an exhibit.
Heard released a statement to PEOPLE that she did not release the tape.
“I am not responsible for the release of the video. It was not what I wanted and I am doing what I can to force the media to take it off the internet,” Heard said.
A source also told TMZ that the video is “heavily edited” and it is missing a portion where Heard is smiling and egging Depp’s antics on. It is noted that the brief video appears to be one take, but it is unclear what caused Depp’s anger and what happened after. The source said that Heard was a manipulator.
