Summary: It is reported that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have an ironclad prenup.
The announcement that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were divorcing shocked the couple’s fans. Besides the lament of what looked like a fairytale marriage, many people wondered what would happen to their combined $400 million fortune. However, according to TMZ, the financial splitting of assets is going to be easy because the couple had a detailed prenup.
According to TMZ, Brangelina has 12 properties, and they were all accumulated before the Hollywood stars married in 2014. Pitt owns 7 properties, Jolie owns 2, and the couple purchased three homes together while they were dating. The prenuptial agreement has clear guidelines as to how those 12 assets will be divided.
Both actors are equally powerful and wealthy, so money never seemed to be that much of an issue in this case. TMZ said that the real thing at stake in this high-profile divorce is the couple’s six children. Jolie wants physical custody, but it is reported that Brad wants to fight that.
Jolie filed for divorce last week in Los Angeles. She cited irreconcilable differences, and the media has speculated reasons ranging from Pitt’s infidelity to Pitt’s poor parenting style. Neither actor has commented on the divorce, besides confirming it and stating they wish the press would respect their privacy.
Pitt recently hired family law attorney, Lance Spiegel, People Magazine reports. Spiegel has represented other celebrities such as Eva Longoria and Russell Simmons in family matters.
Jolie is represented by Hollywood powerhouse divorce attorney, Laura Wasser. Wasser previously worked with Johnny Depp on his divorce from Amber Heard, and she represented Jolie in her divorce from Billy Bob Thornton.
Jolie and Pitt met while filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time. After his divorce from Aniston, Jolie and Pitt went public with their relationship. They dated for almost a decade and married in 2014.
