Summary: The library at UConn law school has uncovered a man hiding out in the bathrooms, recording women using the restroom.
UConn Law School has a peeping tom in the school’s library bathroom. A Hartford man was arrested from videotaping over 12 women in the unisex bathroom. Yiyan Wang, 30, turned himself in to police on the morning of October 12. The charges against him include 15 counts of voyeurism, one count of attempting to commit voyeurism, and one count of disorderly conduct.
The incidents began back in May when a woman went to police claiming that she while she was in the bathroom stall, she saw someone next to her in the other stall using a cellphone to record her underneath the stall wall. She told the person she was going to the police and so the person left. She was able to see the pants and shoes of the person from under the stall.

Then again in June, a woman went to the library staff to complain about a person in the middle stall that had been in there for around three hours. After conducting a well-being check, a tall Asian man was found in the stall. He claimed to be writing an email to family in China and did not want to risk losing his internet connection. The woman that came to the library staff says he is “always” in the middle stall for long periods of time, wearing the same shoes reported in the May incident.

An investigation was used to connect Wang with his car and license plate. A laptop was found in his car parked in the library parking lot. Police suspect his iPhone was wirelessly connected to the laptop. The iPhone and laptop were seized. Videos of women undressing and using the restroom in the law library found on the laptop that were taken in May and June. Five clips of women at workstations at the library taken underneath their desks were also found. There were clips of women having sex and a woman getting out of a shower. None of the women were aware that they were being filmed.
Wang is a former student in the UConn MBA program. He has been held on $250,000 bond.
