Summary: A woman claims that Michael Jackson sexually assaulted her 30 years ago.
Even though Michael Jackson is no longer living, that does not stop people from suing his mega-earning estate. On Tuesday, TMZ reported that a woman filed a lawsuit against him, claiming that he had sexually abused her as a child and paid her hush money.
The woman said that she had met Jackson in 1986 when she was 12. She and her mother had visited Jackson’s mansion as tourists, and when Jackson saw her, he invited her inside for candy. The alleged victim said Jackson had fondled her genitals, kissed her all over her body, and penetrated her.
According to the lawsuit, Jackson started giving her money when she was 16 to stop her from discussing that day. The woman submitted a handwritten letter from Jackson as evidence that they knew each other, and she also showed several deposited checks from different sources tied to Jackson that totaled a whopping $900,000.
The woman said the first check was for $2,500 and the largest check amount was $600,000.
The alleged incident was almost thirty years ago, and Jackson’s estate said that she and others like Wade Robson are looking to cash in. Recently Forbes named Michael Jackson the highest paid dead celebrity, reportedly making $825 million last year.
“This is yet another attempt to hit the lottery by suing the Estate of Michael Jackson more than seven years after Michael’s death and close to 30 years after these incidents supposedly occurred,” MJ’s estate said to TMZ. “We believe this claim was created from whole cloth and is without any merit. It’s also no coincidence that this woman is represented by the same attorneys involved in two other frivolous claims against the Estate.”
The woman is seeking unspecified damages for emotional distress and negligence.
