The much anticipated Best Law Firm rankings are out. U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers have released a list for the seventh year in a row of their top law firms. The “Law Firm of the Year” Awards are also available now.
The list is determined by comparing professional excellence with ratings from clients and peers. This year’s list included the highest number of client ballots and participating firms ever. For a law firm to be eligible, they must have a lawyer listed in The Best Lawyers of America, which features the top 4 percent of practicing attorneys in the country. This gives the ability for 10,000 lawyers to give over 800,000 law firm assessments and for 10,000 clients to give over 90,000 reviews.
CEO and co-founder Steven Naifeh said, “For seven years now, we have added law firm rankings to our rankings of individual lawyers. It has been a daunting task. This year we received 13,803 law firms across the United States and across 122 practice areas, for a total of 2,005 firms receiving a national law firm ranking. Each year, we have expanded our reach while also trying to simplify the process, as much as possible, for the law firms that provide us with the information that we use to create the rankings. We are proud that the legal profession has come to view our law firm rankings each year with such deep and widespread respect.”
The rankings are presented in tiers in a national and/or metropolitan scale. Awards are given in 74 national practice areas and 122 metropolitan practice areas. One law firm is given the top award of “Law Firm of the Year” in each category. Here are the top law firms with their awards:
