Summary: A woman is threatening to release a Cancun sex tape between her and an unnamed celebrity unless he pays $2.5 million.
An unnamed celebrity filed a lawsuit against a woman threatening to release a sex tape of the two. The celebrity identified as Doe in court documents claims the woman has demanded $2.5 million or else she will release the tape.
Doe is seeking an injunction to prevent Elizabeth Ruiz, her former attorney, and a sex tape broker from allowing the video to be viewed or duplicated. He also wants any copies to be turned over.
One celebrity website already passed on buying the sex tape; perhaps they fear the thing that happened to Gawker could happen to them. The lawsuit states that the website respects Doe and that he “has worked hard his entire life to hone his skills and become one of the most talented people in the United States and the world.â€

The documents detail that Doe has received many honors and praises for being “the world’s best at his job.†The lawsuit claims that Doe’s ability to be who he his relies on the “appeal of his persona to different people … including families and children.†Should Ruiz expose him to the public in “the most intimate of physical acts between a man and woman, done in private and intended to remain private,†then Doe would be ruined.
Ruiz is wishing to be the next “Kim Kardashian†and believes a sex tape will throw her into fame and fortune. The two met in Cancun where she used her cell phone to record their sexual encounter. She agreed to keep the recording private. Doe even reminded her upon return to the United States that he wanted the entire tape to be erased. That was in June. By September, Ruiz was searching for a way to make money.

A sex tape broker approached Doe’s lawyer with her desire for help from the broker to sell the tape. A month later, her attorney went to Doe’s lawyer saying she wanted Doe to buy the tape or else she would “reserve her right to exploit the recording.†She had already shown the tape to her attorney, her mother, and the broker.
Her attorney told Doe that she is “unpredictable†and will do whatever she wants if she doesn’t get the money. Her attorney also admitted to having a copy of the sex tape on an external thumb drive. The attorney has since been fired by Ruiz and she has not responded to a letter reminding her that Doe does not give consent to the release of the tape.
